Is C-SPAN video copyrighted? Or public domain?
It seems that there's quite a discussion underway about whether C-SPAN coverage of House and Senate floor proceedings are copyrighted and owned by C-SPAN, or whether they are part of the public domain.
After all, it is an official proceeding of our government... and the cameras are owned by the government...
It all comes up because Speaker Nancy Pelosi is using the video on her new blog.
Matt Stoller has good coverage over at MyDD.

I find it strange there would be much discussion, since the story is pretty simple. A righty wingnut tried to smear Pelosi with yet another bogus and trumped up charge (that she was stealing copyrighted video) that was quickly proven to be BS (the video is public domain).
Anything else is just windbaggery.
